Replacing the old FastPass+ system, Disney announced today that their new technology Genie is being released the much anticipated October 19, 2021.
Genie, is complimentary and includes several new and exciting planning tools....all FREE! Here are the inclusions:
Personalize Day Optimizer - you tell Genie what rides you are most interested in and it will suggest a plan to minimize your wait times...and even better your personalized itinerary will continue to be updated throughout the day!
Virtual Assistant - Ask the Genie questions.
Attraction Virtual Queue - Some rides will continue to have a virtual queue that is free and available to book via Genie.
Forecasted Waits - Genie will forecast the waits for he rides you want to ride in the park you are visiting that day, helping you better decide should you ride now...or later.
Restaurant Wait List, Check In, and Reservations
Real Time Tip Board such as attraction status, entertainment showtimes, standby wait times, dining availability, etc.
Genies typically grant three wishes...so a complimentary planning tool that optimizes an itinerary is wish one granted....wish two is to grant guests the ability to spend less time in line by offering Genie+. Genie + will allow you to reserve your spot in the Lightning Lane for select attractions. Genie + will be offered for $15 per ticket per day and will allow you to maximize your day!
For the third granted wish, Genie is granting an individual a la carte lighting lane pass for purchase. Guests will be allowed to purchase a separate lightning lane pass for up to two hot ticketed rides per day! Pricing will vary by ride and by day. You do not have to purchase Genie+ to take advantage of the Indvidual A La Carte option. The rides available for a la carte pricing will not be available in the genie plus package....for these rides guests will have the option of the stand by queue, purchase an Individual A La Carte Lightning pass, or for some rides you may try for a virtual queue boarding pass (for free).

Who else is excited for Genie and Genie+? I think this is going to be a great alternative to fast passes and give families more flexibility vs having to plan an entire day around three fast passes months in advance of your trip!
